Green Your Laundry + A Giveaway!

LooHoo Wool Dryer Balls

Have you ever put wool felt balls in your dryer?

No? Well then today I’d like to introduce you to my friend Cyndi Prince.

Cyndi and I have a lot in common—we live in the same community in midcoast Maine, and we are both mothers and business owners aiming to provide healthy, natural, and chemical-free products for children and families.

Cyndi Prince, LooHoo Founder

Cyndi is the founder of a great company called LooHoo that produces wool felt dryer balls here in Maine. She formed the business shortly after the birth of her son, having learned about the harmful effects of the chemicals in dryer sheets and fabric softeners.

Wool dryer balls are a natural alternative  that soften clothes safely and really speed up the drying time of large loads of laundry, including cloth diapers. Cyndi has produced her dryer balls in a beautiful variety of hues that brighten up the task of doing laundry and make it more fun!

The inspiration to create LooHoo grew out of  Cyndi’s creative passions (she is also a photographer), and her desire to create a consistently high quality wool dryer ball from local resources, durable enough to last for hundreds of loads.

While I love to hang my clothes on the line, it’s hard to do during the long Maine winters. That’s when I rely on my dryer more. I started out using three LooHoo balls a couple of years ago, and now have six in my dryer. I can attest that they really do speed up drying time, which in turn cuts down on our electric bill and reduces our carbon footprint.

Being the fan that I am of LooHoo, I was delighted when Cyndi generously offered to give away a Deluxe Starter 3-Pack to three readers of Moon Child

LooHoo Deluxe Starter Pack - colors

For today’s giveaway, LooHoo is pleased to offer the following gift to THREE winners:

A Deluxe Starter 3-Pack of LooHoo Wool Dryer Balls

    Oh…these are lovely!
My daughter actually put these on our ‘family basket’ holiday wish list…what fun surprise it would be to WIN a set!!! We hang most of our clothes to dry – but always run towels & bedding thru the dryer…I am thinking these would shorten the dry time on towels significantly!
The colors you have created are beautiful as well ~
Thanks so much for sharing your gifts with the world & for this generous giveaway+*+*+

How have I not heard of these?! Being a fan of all things from Maine, I would be very eager to try these out, and I know that my 3 year old daughter would be very excited too! Somehow I think they might end up being used more for her purposes than in our apartment dryer…. Great idea, and thanks for the opportunity to learn about (and possibly win) something new.

Wonderful! I’ve seen this about lately and would love to try them. We don’t use anything in the dryer and love the idea of faster drying and softer clothes.

Would absolutely love to try these! During our chilly winters we tend to lean on our dryer a wee bit more (like you!) and I’m 100% against dryer sheets, so these lovely dryer balls would be a welcome addition to our home. Thanks for the chance to win!

I love hanging clothes on the line, but now that cold weather is here, we will be using the dryer more. I would like to see if these help.

  • Reply Amelia November 27, 2013 at 6:11 am

These would be great off-the-job toys too. The plastic ones are too scary for that.

I live near a riverside coal burning power plant in Kentucky, and I like to do everything I can to reduce my contribution to the pollution and coal barge traffic. I hang my laundry outside in the warmer months, and would love to use these to help lessen my footprint in the winter months! xoxo

These look very useful I have tried tennis balls in the dryer to speed up dry time but I’m always afraid of what it may be doing to the dryer drum so something like this would be great! Also replacing dryer sheets sweet they are expensive and don’t really work that well so I’m happy to hear that this product exists and even if I don’t win them I will have to buy some! Thanks Sarah for introducing such a useful tool for busy women everywhere!

    • Reply Susan November 30, 2013 at 7:29 pm

Sorry, I wanted to add that I have never tried these, but have tried dryer balls that I thought were plastic but found out are made of PVC. 🙁 I have since learned to love all things wool, so these seem like such a great idea and alternative to other materials.

  • Reply Eric Snipes November 30, 2013 at 11:58 pm

been curious about the wool dryer balls for years and love getting away from all the nasty chemicals that the governments seem to be pushing on us everyday! Awesome giveaway and hope the winners enjoy and it starts more of a trend to be so natural and less man made!
