Earth Hour was observed two weeks ago on March 29, when millions of people agreed to turn off their lights for one hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time.

This is a lovely idea! My children go to bed before the sun does, so I will be doing it by myself. Sunday nights are when I do my planning for the week, I think a perfect time to light some candles and focus on what’s truly important. Thank you!
I’m wondering if we could do it end more often than that. I will definitely do it this week when my 7 year old granddaughter comes for a sleepover. She will love it. And the next week, after she gets her Easter basket with the little beeswax hen candle from Bella Luna she can do it again at home. I’m loving this idea.

Great idea! We have been thinking about and preparing to start a weekly Sabbath. We are focusing upon the preparation and evening meal first and this would fit in perfectly with that. Don’t you love when a great idea comes up to fill into what you have already been ruminating on?
This is lovely. Thank you for sharing and inspiring others. I live in the bush, and our village has a large centralized generator for electricity, which sometimes stops working and we can lose electricity for hours or days at a time. A family who has lived here a long time has a weekly tradition of using candles and flashlights from sunset through their children’s bedtime. This has a practical purpose of helping them to make sure that they always have candles, matches, flashlights, extra batteries, etc. on hand and that they know where they are and keep them readily accessible. It also helps their children become familiar with using candles and flashlights, and to not be scared or concerned when the electricity goes out. They make it their weekly family game night and play board or card games by candlelight. We are going to start this tradition in our family, too.
What a lovely idea! I would like to try this. Where would I get something like that gorgeous metal luminary you have there? Seems magical.
We’re in! We LOVED participating in Earth Hour and have done it again several times. Sunday nights will be the perfect night to add this lovely ritual to the rhythm…
