I first became acquainted with the term “Waldorf Toys” when I was searching on-line for toys for my then baby girl. I had not heard of Waldorf by name previously, but I found myself drawn to websites which advertised Waldorf or Waldorf inspired toys. Initially I was struck by their beauty. Then I realized how functional they could be in comparision with the mass produced toys out there. They could be used by children for many years in many ways instead of a single use for a short duration of time. My daughter seemed to prefer them too. Most of our toys and creative arts products are Waldorf inspired.

I love the quality of the materials. I’m partial to Waldorf dolls and play kitchen accessories. I much prefer to see finely crafted wood and felt and silk toys laying around my house than plastic and electronic junk with bells and whistles.

I chose them because my grandmother followed steiner growing up and it makes me feel good to introduce my son to things I loved as a child.

I love handcrafted toys, they look and feel so timeless. My son and daughter both seem to open up with these natural toys in hand, their imagination runs wild!! My favorites are the silks, and the stackers and nestors. My next purchase will be the rainbow stacker, and some more sarah silks! I also love the playfood, I don’t think I can describe in words the difference in a beautiful handcrafted apple vs the plastic one…it just feels so good to grasp. Love bella luna and so glad to see this blog!! I will certainly be here often 🙂

I really like the art supplies you have in the shop. The beeswax crayons are my favorite because of the natural products used to create them and their shape that’s easy for young ones to hold.

I love wooden toys because they last FOREVER. Children play very hard and the plastic stuff just falls apart. When I buy a “big” toy (the wooden kitchen, for example) I think of it as an investment. Not only will my children enjoy it for years, but it will be durable enough for my grandchildren to enjoy!

one of the things i like most is the beauty of walrdorf toys, dolls and even simple crayons. part of this beauty comes from the way they were made, handcrafted instead of made in a sweatshop trying to cut costs. i really appreciate this.

    Hi Sara.

I LOVE wooden/natural toys for my children because they have a pureness and beauty about them that can not be duplicated by any man made materials. The “living” nature of them seems to nourish all who interact with them….grown ups and children alike. : )

    What an amazing giveaway!

I love natural toys because it’s the most logic toys for a child. The sound of wooden toys sound natural and peaceful not like plastic toys. Like the Lyre or the sound of tree block when they bang together! It’s pleasure for children and parents!
Waldorf doll, hand-made with so much love, are the best gift idea for a girl (or a boy), more likeness to her (or his!) than the other. Not soft and lifeless but tough like human body. It will be the very best friend of your child forlong time (and mama’s friend too!!!)
Waldorf toys are also dazzling but not garish. See the playsilk or rainbow tunnel, it’s an interior design piece too!
Bella Luna offer the chance to children to have beautiful, handy, durable and fair trade toys for all the life!

Giving wonderful, lasting, “made-with-love” toys to my granddaughter is finding a smile everywhere I look. Your toys create a world of imagination in the life of a 3 year old….and all those around her! Cheers!

Thank you, Sarah for this offer. I believe wooden toys awaken children’s imaginations and creativity. Wooden toys being simple and alive (in a way) help children connect with nature. it is almost as if these toys are an extension of the natural world.

  • Reply Misha June 2, 2010 at 2:34 pm

I love how Waldorf toys feel. It is nice for a child to hold warm wood, wool and cotton in their hands instead of a hard plastic toy. My daughter has Waldorf dolls and a few plastic baby dolls she received as gifts and hands down, the Waldorf dolls are so much softer and nicer to play with. She once banged her head on a hard plastic doll’s head – that never happens with her soft and wonderful Waldorf dolls!

I’m hoping our next big purchase will be a lovely wooden play kitchen.
