As many of you know, I was in Germany last week attending the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
Not only was I ecstatic to discover many wonderful new wooden toys and Waldorf dolls to introduce this year at Bella Luna Toys, but I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to meet with the presidents of several of the lines of European toys we carry, including Grimm’s Spiel & Holz, PlanToys, Käthe Kruse, HABA, and Ostheimer.
I had a long and wonderful visit with Wolfgang Schühle, the president of Ostheimer in Germany, and met Stephan Zech, the company’s current designer. I was able to share with them my love of Ostheimer figures and tell them about the joy they have brought my family over the last 20 years.
Wolfgang was able to share with me some of the history of the company, founded by Margarete Ostheimer in Stuttgart, Germany nearly 60 years ago. Fortunately, I was able to record some of my talk with Mr. Schühle and am happy to share it with you here!
I want to share my Ostheimer love with you, so Bella Luna Toys is giving away a set of these beloved wooden figures, perfect for a child’s Easter basket!
Set Includes:
- 1 Sheep
- 1 Sitting Rabbit
- 1 Picking Brown Hen
- 1 Brown Chick

I have a terrible time naming favorites, but the next one I hope to get is the Bernese Mountain Dog, as it will help my daughter to act out some of her favorite stories. Thanks so much for the chance to win such a lovely collection!
Now days, when our children are overstimulated with electronic media, academic learning, with all kind of plastic toys which are very often toxic, we (educators) have moral responsibility to represent what child need: Harmonic surrounding and space for free playing and nice, natural toy. And Ostheimer toys are represent of good toy! Thank you Sarah for this!
What a wonderful give away! Thanks Bella Luna Toys 🙂

My favorite Ostheimer animal is the peacock, too, Kristin! Wolfgang Schuhler told me that it takes the longest to paint.
My favorite are the tiny chicks, and oh how the little ones love them too!

For the Chinese New Year we are loving the little snake 🙂
Love the trees. They make everything so bright and cheery.
I love the trees 🙂
There is something so beautiful in their simplicity. I love them all, but the farm animals are often a favorite in our home.
What a lovely giveaway! Thank you! I have long admired this particular line of wooden figures, especially the farm animals who would feel right at home playing on the knitted farm blanket! I’m having a hard time choosing a favorite, but love the Burmese Mountain Dog. Also, love the cows and the pigs!
Love those little lambs! Thank you!
I adore the donkey (we have that donkey and the smaller one that looks up to the larger one – so precious!) If I had to choose a new figure, I’d choose the brown and white cow because we have a bull but no cow. 🙂
Thank you!
My favorite is the duck 🙂
I love the elephant, but the kangaroo with the baby is pretty wonderful too!

What a wonderful giveaway just in time for Easter!
Such beautiful toys. We especially love the Nativity figures. My 6 year old wants the angel with star.
I think my daughter would love the Kangaroo with Baby! I love it! =)
My husband and I love collecting and giving these to our daughter at every celebration – Christmas, Easter, birthday, etc. Our most recent purchase was the baby in cradle which she will receive when baby #2 is born 🙂 so sweet!
It would be the Farm Animals Duckling. We had a house duck we lost last summer. This little guy reminds me when she was just a duckling.
I loved the horse and rider that was framed so nicely between the two of you in the interview. I love the pieces you already carry, but would love to see this piece too since it is so interactive. I know my son would love putting the man on and off the beautiful horse and galloping around. we have a few horses on our wooden farm, but the people can’t actually sit on them for a ride. Ok, maybe, I”D like playing with it too, if you must know! 🙂 sounds like an awesome trip to Germany!
They are all wonderful. I would have to say the mermaid is my favorite.
Oh, my favorite is a goat kid! Thank you so much for this lovely giveaway!
Thank you for the great video and giveaway! We love your website and the toys you sell. My daughter loves horses and so she loves the horse figures. Hens are also some of her favorite animals.
We love the brown and white pony with reins, but they are all lovely!
Thank you for sharing the Nuremberg Fair with us! Fun interview.
I loved hearing how the founder began with farm animals and the nativity figures. I look forward to giving our son his first Ostheimer figures for his 2nd birthday around Easter time! I love wool, so I especially love the Ostheimer sheep. 🙂 Thank you.
I absolutely adore the Ostheimer Dragon, unicorn, and all of the fantasy characters!
My favorite is the piglet [so darling!] and my 2 year old sons’s favorite is the bear. 🙂
I would love these for my little ones. Beautiful!
